He died on Sunday after returning from brunch with his wife and children. He was just a few weeks shy of his 84th birthday.

Known most famously for his role in the slapstick movie "Airplane!", Graves was a versatile actor who starred in over 70 films and TV shows. His run as Jim Phelps on the CBS drama "Mission: Impossible" from 1967-1973 earned him a Golden Globe Award in 1971. He was the only original cast member to return to the show when ABC renewed the series for a brief stint from 1988-1990.

More recently, his voice could be heard as the narrator of PBS' "Discover: The World of Science" and A&E's "Biography" series.

Brother Graves was a proud member of Phi Kappa Psi, having earned a National Leadership Award in 1998. He was a regular donor to the Phi Psi Foundation throughout much of his life and an autographed picture of Brother Graves is displayed proudly at Laurel Hall.
